8vo. ix, [1], 90pp, [2]. With a final leaf of advertisements (not recorded by ESTC). Contemporary sheep, spine richly gilt, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece. Extremities worn, joints split, loss to head of spine. Hinges exposed, inked ownership signature to FFEP of Anna Maria Ewen Junr. (1786-1857) whose mother (according to neat pencilled notes on front endpapers), was the granddaughter of the author. With an acrostic poem in her hand to rear endpapers, the first character of each line spelling Hamon L'Estrange.
A rare survival of the second edition of legal and religious writer Hamon L'Estrange's (bap. 1674, d. 1767) effort to promote practical Christianity, first printed at London in 1762 as A Legacy to the World: or, essays to promote Practical Christianity...By a civil magistrate.

As with the first, this second edition is remarkably scarce; ESTC records copies at only three locations in the British Isles (BL, Oxford, and Suffolk Record Office), and none elsewhere.
