Poems on several occasions.
London.
Printed for Vernor & Hood, 1800.
First edition.
8vo.
xxviii, 179pp, [1]. With and engraved portrait frontispiece and a list of subscribers. Contemporary calf boards, recently rebacked, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece, gilt. Boards worn. Hinges exposed, lightly browned.
The only work, published posthumously, of Thomas Browne (1771-1798), Hull newspaper editor. The subscriber's list is mostly northern, especially biased towards Yorkshire, which is hardly surprising given the inclusion of several verses in Yorkshire dialect. Some of the pieces contained herein had appeared in the author's newspaper, The Hull Advertiser, under the pseudonym 'Alexis'.
